An energy-saving PAREXTHERM SW Mineral insulated façade system has been specified for the exterior envelope of a prestigious new £10 million plus spa development at one of Cheshire’s leading country hotels.
The Spa at Carden is the latest addition to facilities at the popular Carden Park Hotel complex near Chester which is renowned for its luxury facilities and a Jack Nicklaus designed golf course.
Billed as “Cheshire’s Country Estate”, The Spa at Carden is owned by high profile housing developer and football enthusiast Steve Morgan, CBE, who has taken an active interest in the concept and design of the new spa, including specification of the PAREXTHERM SW Mineral exterior walling system.
In specifying the system, The Spa at Carden was able to achieve a finish in keeping with the aesthetics of the existing hotel which features elevations in a heavy spraytextured render finish. Importantly in a complex where energy conservation is a primary consideration, use of the PAREXTHERM SW Mineral system has contributed substantially towards achieving high standards in energy conservation and efficiency.
The new steel-framed spa building required approximately 400m² of the PAREXTHERM SW Mineral insulated render system to the external walls. The project was managed by main contractor Pave Aways Ltd, of Oswestry, whose specialist applicator Quality Fast Facades Ltd applied the render system. The build-up of the system comprises RCM Y-Wall render board fixed to the steel frame with an insulation layer of 150 mm thickness Rockwool Dual Density stone wool insulation adhesively attached using Parex Maite and mechanically fixed using specialist fixings. The insulation then received Parex Maite as a base coat with embedded Parex 355 AVU reinforcing mesh, prior to receiving a heavy spray textured layer of Parex EHI GM in colour Natural White G00, to match the existing hotel complex finish and to complete the impressive facade and to provide a Euroclass A2 fire rated solution.
Facilities at the new spa feature a swimming pool, sauna, steam room and hydrotherapy pool a fully equipped gym and space for a full range of fitness classes.
