Sika participated in the 6th International Conference on Life Cycle Management (LCM2013) in August in Gothenburg, Sweden, with the article "Advanced process materials for the automotive industry enable light weight automotive design solutions".

Sika Automotive Solutions

The article was presented in the session "Roles and responsibilities in the mobility sector" of the 6th International Conference on Life Cycle Management (LCM2013). It discusses how Sika Automotive solutions can support the Automotive industry manage increasing challenges of safety, CO2 emissions and fuel efficiency while enabling light-weight design.

Two case studies are used to illustrate this using Life Cycle Assessment: SikaPower and SikaReinforcer. The presentation added value to the session by showing the perspective of a process material supplier, next to the other contributions from academia and car manufacturers (OEM).

Life Cycle Management

The LCM conferences are one of the leading conference series worldwide in the field of environmental, economic and social sustainability. They aim to develop practical solutions for the implementation of life cycle approaches into strategic and operational decision-making, and are attended by renowned members from academia, industry, NGOs and public bodies.

The LCM2013 theme was “Perspectives of managing life cycles” and included the importance of local vs. global perspectives, roles and responsibilities for different actors and the relations between divergent theoretical and practical conceptions of sustainable value chains. A main focus was on the different ways of integrating sustainability strategies in the companies by using life cycle information to create sustainable value that is connected to business value.
