FLOOD PROTECTION AT THE DANUBE RIVER

To protect the city of Hainburg, the height of the existing flood protection wall which is located at the Danube river was increased. The project size was approximately 1,000 square meters, divided into 32 small sections.

EXCELLENT ABRASION RESISTANCE

The existing wall and its added concreted part should be waterproofed  as a whole to obtain a homogeneous surface. The waterproofing material should be able to withstand abrasion caused by driftwood and other debris. The Danube river has at this part a high flow velocity, therefore  all waterproofing materials should have excellent abrasion resistance.

SIKA WATERPROOFING SOLUTION

After the appropriate professional surface preparation, the wall  was levelled with Sikagard®-720 EpoCem, followed by an epoxy primer Sikafloor®-156. Then the prepared flood protection wall was completely covered with three millimeters spray applied polyurea, Sikalastic®-841 ST.
