Wood Flooring Adhesive

SikaBond® Wood Flooring Adhesive is a standard setting, trowel or gun applied adhesive specially designed for fixing all types of wooden floors directly onto all common substrates. Available in pails for large areas of application and cartridges and foils for smaller applications such as fix and repair.

  • Will not cause warpage or curl of wood blocks/planks.
  • Permanently flexible – compensates for subfloor movement.
  • Will bond wood directly to all common subfloors.
  • Low odour.
  • Suitable for use with underfloor heating (due to flexibility).
  • Gap filling properties for uneven surfaces.

Usage

All types of wooden floors directly onto most substrates;

Shelf Life

12 months from date of manufacture when stored according to manufacturer’s instructions.

Storage Conditions

Store in cool, dry conditions between +5 °C to +25 °C. Ensure good ventilation. Storage outside these parameters will dramatically reduce shelf life. Opened  pails must be closed airtight and used up as soon as possible (within 1 month).

Substrate Moisture Content

28 days maturing and max 3 % moisture content before using this adhesive. For moisture contents at 3.1 – 7 %, use in conjunction with SikaBond® DPM Rapid and moisture barrier. Do not use this product above these recommended moisture levels.

Curing Time

36 – 48 hours. Can usually be trafficked/sanded after 24 hours.

 

Tack Free Time

Cartridge and Foil: Approx. 30 minutes (at 23 °C and 50 % R.H)
Pail: Approx. 40 minutes (at 23 °C and 50 % R.H)
Consumption

Consumption

One 300 mL cartridge will bond 1 m2 of flooring when applied as directed.
One 600 mL foil sausage will bond 2 m2 of flooring when applied as directed.
14 kg pail: 0.6 kg - 1 kg will bond 1 m2 of flooring when applied as directed.
Application steps

SUBSTRATE PREPARATION

COMPATIBILITY TESTS ARE RECOMMENDED FOR EVERY SURFACE.

  • Ensure moisture level of subfloor is below 3 % before placing using a carbide hygrometer.
  • Read limitations section prior to use.
  • Parquet flooring MUST be acclimatized for several days in the room where it is to be installed. Leave in original packaging during this period.
  • Turn off under floor heating 48 hours before, and for 48 hours after the adhesive has been applied.
  • The surfaces to be glued must be sound, clean, dry and free from dust, grease and other contaminants.
  • Existing floors must be free from all polish/wax.
  • Clean existing floor tiling with caustic soda; rinse thoroughly and allow to dry.
  • Residues of old adhesive must be removed mechanically as they may affect adhesion.
  • New concrete must be allowed 4 weeks to dry and mature.
  • Screeds require 28 days maturing and max 3 % moisture content before using this adhesive.
  • Chipboard must be free of release agents/wax.
  • Very porous or friable surfaces should first be primed with SikaBond® DPM Rapid and allowed to dry.
  • Smooth surfaces (e.g. Anhydrite screeds) must be roughened to provide a key.
  • Basement/below ground floors must be adequately protected with a D.P.C and two coats of SikaBond® DPM Rapid applied as directed.
