Application steps

SUBSTRATE PREPARATION

  • Ensure surface is clean, dry or damp (not wet), and free from grease, loose material, and green growth.
  • Do not apply to paving laid less than 3 months ago.
  • Avoid surfaces treated with silicone or stearate-based sealers.
  • Always test on a small area before full application.

APPLICATION

  • Stir thoroughly before use.
  • Do not apply if rain is expected within 5 hours.
  • Apply using a long-pile roller, brush, or low-pressure garden spray.
  • Do NOT pour directly onto the surface – apply evenly.
  • Apply in dry weather above +5 °C.
  • Once applied, surface will be dry to touch in approx. 30 minutes; walk-on in 1 hour.
  • Allow 1 hour between coats if applying more than one coat.

Recommended Coats:

Very porous substrates: e.g. concrete flags, some stones:-

2 coats, wait 2 hours between coats.

Low porosity substrates: e.g dense block paving:-

1 coat is usually sufficient.

CLEANING OF TOOLS

Clean equipment with water and detergent immediately after use.

How do I apply Sika® Path & Patio Sealer?

You can apply Sika® Path & Patio Sealer using a long pile roller or a low-pressure garden sprayer. Always ensure the surface is clean, dry (or slightly damp), and free from debris, oil, and green growth before application. Usually, one or two coats are enough.  

Does Sika® Path & Patio Sealer prevent green growth and algae?

Yes, Sika® Path & Patio Sealer creates a barrier and also contains a special formula that helps prevent mould, algae, and green growth, keeping your patio looking clean and fresh for longer. 

What is Sika® Path & Patio Sealer used for?

Sika® Path & Patio Sealer is a water-based acrylic coating designed to seal and protect patios, paths, driveways, and block paving. It repels water, grease, and dirt while enhancing the natural colour and appearance of stone and paving. 

Can I use Sika® Path & Patio Sealer on all types of paving?

Sika® Path & Patio Sealer is suitable for a variety of surfaces, including natural stone (such as limestone), block paving, patios, and paths, whether they’re new, refurbished, or freshly cleaned. Note: It is not suitable for use on porcelain.

How long after cleaning or installing paving should I wait before sealing?

If your patio is newly installed or made from artificial stone or block paving, wait at least 3 months before sealing with Sika® Path & Patio Sealer. This allows salts to leach out and prevents white marks under the seal. 

Is Sika® Path & Patio Sealer safe to use around children and pets?

Yes, Sika® Path & Patio Sealer is a low-odour, water-based formula with no harmful fumes or fire risk. Just keep children and pets off the surface until it’s completely dry. 

Is Sika® Path & Patio Sealer slippery when dry?

Sika® Path & Patio Sealer is not slippery when wet. It provides a low-sheen, slip-resistant finish, making it safe underfoot while enhancing the appearance of your outdoor surfaces. 

Can I apply Sika® Path & Patio Sealer on damp paving?

Yes, you can apply Sika® Path & Patio Sealer on a slightly damp surface, but it must not be soaking wet or have standing water. Avoid applying if rain is expected within 5 hours. 

How long does Sika® Path & Patio Sealer take to dry?

Sika® Path & Patio Sealer when applied to a surface is touch-dry in about 30 minutes, walkable after 1 hour, and fully dry in around 4 hours at +20°C. Drying time may be longer in colder conditions. 

How many coats of Sika® Path & Patio Sealer do I need?

Typically, one coat of Sika Path & Patio Sealer is sufficient for most surfaces; however, very porous materials may require a second coat for optimal protection and finish. The sealer dries clear with a natural look on the first coat and a satin or gloss finish with additional coats.
