Sika® Black Jack®-907 Solar Reflective Paint

A thin bituminous-based aluminium protective paint

Sika® Black Jack®-907 Solar Reflective Paint is a thin bituminous-based aluminium protective paint of brushable consistency which dries to a silvery finish. The product is specifically designed for application over primed metal walls and roofs to reduce heat absorption.

Usage

Chemical Resistance

Resistant to: most salt solutions, dilute acids and alkali, and water.
Not resistant to: oils, solvents and some detergent solutions. 
If not sure, check first in an inconspicuous area.

Application steps

SUBSTRATE PREPARATION

All surfaces must be dry and thoroughly cleaned to remove all traces of dirt, dust and grease. Wet surfaces should be brushed free from water and wiped with a dry cloth to remove any moisture which remains. Repair cracks and holes using Black Jack® 903 Bitumen Trowel Mastic, stick down loose felt etc. with Black Jack® 904 Roof Felt Adhesive. Concrete, cement and other porous surfaces should be primed using Black Jack® 902 Bitumen and Flashing Primer and allowed to dry. Where there is green growth present, clean surfaces with Sika® Mouldbuster as directed, before proceeding. 

 

APPLICATION

Sika® Black Jack®-907 Solar Reflective Paint must be stirred prior to use and periodically during application. Apply two coats by brush or mohair roller, the second coat being applied as soon as the first coat is dry (1-2 hours). Over recently applied bituminous coatings, allow the following minimum period to elapse after the final coat has dried before applying this product:
Hot applied products - 6 hours.
Solvent based coatings - 3 days.
Water based coatings - 2 weeks.
Over bituminous surfaces, apply the thinnest first coat necessary to obliterate the black colour of the bitumen. The second coat should also be thin. Avoid ponding. When brushing, use soft bristle brushes applying the lightest pressure.

CLEANING OF TOOLS

All tools should be cleaned immediately after use with Sika® Wonder Wipes or white spirit. Any spillage should be wiped off surfaces before the bitumen paint has set.
