Cromar® Flashing Strip Tape

Cromar® Flashing Tape is a self-adhesive bituminous sealing strip which bonds instantly to provide a watertight seal.

Cromar® Flashing Strip Tape is a self-adhesive polymer modified bitumen adhesive tape backed with a durable aluminum foil that creates a watertight seal on almost any surface. It is ready to use and ideal for sealing and repairing of metal sheeting, water tanks, downpipes and gutters. A crease-resistant lead tape, this flashing tape is used for sealing and general repairs. Cromar® Flashing Strip Tape has a heavy-duty aluminium/polyester laminate facing with a high-grade bitumen backing. This gives the product tear resistance, thus aiding speed and ease of application. Cromar® Flashing Strip Tape bonds to most building materials including steel, aluminum, metals, concrete, stone, bricks, cement plaster, polycarbonate, PVC, glass, and wood and roofing felt.

The product must be stored in original, unopened and undamaged sealed packaging, in dry conditions at temperatures between +10 °C and +40 °C.

Application

Application steps

SUBSTRATE PREPARATION

All surfaces must be dry, sound and free from oil, grease and dust. Remove all loose material by scraper or wire brush. Porous surfaces, such as concrete or brick, should be primed using Cromar® Bitumen Primer and allowed to dry.

 

APPLICATION

Cut to the required length. Peel back approximately 50 mm of release backing cover and place the tape into position. Continue removing the release backing whilst
firmly placing the tape to avoid unnecessary creasing. Ensure intimate contact and that no air is trapped. Using a small roller ensure that all edges and overlaps
are sealed properly. Overlaps should be at least 25 mm.
