Cromar® Shed Felt

A cost effective waterproof covering.

Designed for use on temporary portable buildings with pitched roofs, such as garden sheds, kennels and other non-habitable buildings. The product is manufactured using a rag-fibre carrier, which is saturated and coated on both sides with oxidised bitumen, then finished with fine mineral on the upper surface and sand on the underside.

Storage Conditions

Do not drag rolls across rough surfaces, always lift. Rolls should be stored upright on a dry surface. During colder periods it is recommended that rolls are stored in a temperature above +10 °C for 24 hours prior to use. During storage exposure to direct sunlight is to be avoided. Do not use in temperatures below + 5 °C.

Application steps

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

  • Unroll the membrane and allow it to relax for easier handling.
  • Lay the felt with the mineral finished surface facing upwards and the sanded side down.
  • Install the felt in horizontal strips starting at the eaves and working upward toward the ridge to ensure correct water shedding.

Fixing:

  • Secure the felt using galvanised clout nails along the top edge of each strip.
  • Overlap subsequent strips by at least 75 mm.
  • Ensure the final ridge strip overlaps both sides to provide full waterproofing.

Finishing:

  • Trim felt neatly at edges, ensuring it is tucked and nailed under barge boards or fascia trims for maximum weather protection.
  • Avoid installing in wet conditions, as damp decks can trap moisture under the felt.
