CromaSlate Tiles are lightweight, synthetic roofing slates.

CromaSlate Tiles are manufactured from recycled polypropylene with UV stabilisers, offering a high-quality alternative to natural slate.

Cardboard boxes containing 15 tiles, which equates to 1 m2 when installed on a roof pitch of 15 degrees and above.

Storage Conditions

Store in cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.

Application

Application steps

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

  • Fix to 25 mm × 50 mm treated timber battens.
  • Maximum batten gauge: 200 mm.
  • Lay slates left to right, starting at the eaves.
  • Each slate includes an integrated 5 mm spacer to ensure consistent alignment and gauge.
  • No grading or drilling required, reducing installation time.
  • Slates can be cut on site using a fine-tooth hand saw.
  • Fix using corrosion-resistant large-head ring-shank nails or screws (minimum 30 mm).
  • Ensure fixings are flush but not over-tightened to allow for natural movement.
  • Use a suitable breathable roofing membrane underneath (e.g. SikaRoof® Vent3® range).
  • Install appropriate eaves ventilation and underlay support trays in line with roofing regulations.
  • Ridge and hip details should be completed using CromaSlate matching ridge and hip tiles.
