All you need is:

  • Sika® Setting Sand
  • Stiff broom
  • Hose pipe with spray nozzle mixer
  • Bucket
  • Trowel

Before You Start - Prep is Key!

1. Clean the Paving

Make sure the surface is completely dry and free from:

  • Dust
  • Dirt
  • Oil or grease
  • Loose debris

2. Check the Joints

  • Joint width: 2–5 mm
  • Joint depth: at least 25 mm

⚠️ Don't pre-fill joints with other sand. Use Sika® Setting Sand for the full depth.

Application - Let's Get Started

Step 1:  Do a Quick Trial First

Test a small area (or off-cut) to get a feel for it before full application.

Read the instructions carefully and wear the correct PPE.

Step 2: Mix the Bag Gently

The product may settle, so give it a good dry mix before use.

Remove any lumps and don’t add extra sand.

Step 3: Work in Small Sections

Only pour out small, manageable amounts.

Don’t spread over large areas.

Step 4: Fill the Joints

Use a broom to sweep Sika® Setting Sand into the joints until fully filled.

Take your time to get it packed in.

Final Steps - Set it Right

Step 1:  Watch the Weather

If rain is coming, cover the area to protect your work.

Immediately sweep off any left over material on the surface.

Step 2: Soak Thoroughly

Use a hose or watering can to gently soak the joints.

🚫 Don’t use a pressure washer!

Step 3: Rinse & Let it Set

Lightly rinse any excess from the surface.

You can walk on it right away, but it’s best to let it dry properly.

Step 4: Curing & Drying

  • Surface Drying: 1–2 days (depending on weather)
  • Full Cure: Up to 28 days

Cooler temperatures may slow down the drying process.

Pro Tip: 

For best results, apply in dry, mild weather, and avoid heavy traffic during the curing period.
