For most specifications, polyurethane adhesives and sealants outperform other technologies such as SMPs and silicones. With Purform®, Sika has developed a new technology that increases the performance of Sikaflex® adhesives and sealants. Sikaflex®, Sikabond® and SikaTack® Purform® adhesives and sealants have an ultra-low free monomeric diisocyanate content, in addition to their other product-specific advantages. Users of the Purform® technology benefit from the unique performance of polyurethane, whilst eliminating the need for specific REACH health and safety trainings. Users' exposure to chemicals is thus reduced and limited to an absolute minimum.

Strength

Purform® adhesives and sealants combine the best mechanical performance with excellent adhesion to a wide range of materials, superior durability even in harsh environments, and top-class UV resistance. When compared to alternative sealant and adhesive technologies such as silane modified polymers (SMP), silicones, acrylic dispersions or polysulfides, polyurethanes are better at balancing the different aspects of your specifications and needs.
Purform® - Making Good Better
Purform® pre-polymers enable the production of products with high performance that are also label-free* and consequently reduce user exposure to an absolute minimum.
Unlike silicones or SMP products, there are no emissions of critical materials such as methanol while curing.
Purform® is a high performance polyurethane. The unique combination of hard and soft segments in its polymers create high-strength adhesives, ideal for use in the automotive industry, as well as highly flexible sealants that can be tailored for construction.
In both cases, products are more durable and long-lasting, even in harsh environments.
By manufacturing its own pre-polymers, Sika can design products to meet specific requirements, such as non-staining, non-cracking or non-yellowing sealants as well as direct adhesion to specific substrates.
