SHOW OF STRUCTURAL STRENGTH FOR ENGINEERS’ VISIT
A trip to Sika’s Welwyn Garden City HQ was deemed an enlightening success for engineers representing construction specialists, Arup
The visit included two CPD presentations on the properties and usage of Sika’s concrete repair and structural strengthening systems. This was followed by a demonstration on Sika’s range of carbon fibre products such as wraps and plates which provide simple and effective strengthening for concrete columns and beams. Sika experts showed the correct method for applying epoxy adhesive to ensure the material provides adequate structural strength.
The 10 engineers, who are based at Arup’s London office, were then given a tour of Sika’s ‘Site B’ production plant. Stuart Whitmore, Area Technical Manager for Sika Refurbishment, who along with colleague and fellow Senior Area Technical Manager, Nic Collins, gave the CPD presentation.

It’s one thing gleaning information from a data product sheet, but it’s quite another, and far more useful to see how the products are used in a ‘live’ situation.
