BACKGROUND
Set over 48 acres, Cargiant at East Lane Business Park is London’s largest used car showroom, holding an impressive 6000 cars in one location. To keep the vast number of cars protected, an effective waterproof roofing system was needed for the new build showroom. However, due to the thick insulation and concrete deck on the roof, a traditional mechanically fixed system was not possible, meaning a durable alternative needed to be found.
SW Roofing Solutions Ltd was tasked by main contractors London Cost Ltd with the specification and installation of the roofing system. As specialists in flat roofing, SW Roofing Solutions Ltd’s extensive knowledge meant they were able to recommend the best solution to the architect.
Sika Sarnafil® G410-15 EL SA membrane was suggested, as the product would provide an effective and robust solution without the need for mechanical fixing. The new innovative membrane combines Sarnafil’s tried and tested BBA-certified single ply membrane with new self-adhesive technology, delivering a unique ‘peel and stick’ roofing solution.
The quick and easy-to-apply system proved ideal for the project. Faced with delays from earlier in construction, Sika Sarnafil’s G410-15 EL SA membrane’s ease of use helped to bring the project back on schedule. In fact, the project eventually finished ahead of time due to the roofing contractor’s skill and product’s quick installation.
Upon successful completion of the installation, the project secured a 15-year Sika Sarnafil guarantee due to the high quality finish and workmanship throughout. The client was happy with the end result, so much so that they now intend to use the same roofing system across another six to seven further locations as they expand.
