Why Choose a Cold-Applied Liquid Roofing System?
Sika supplies a range of liquid-applied membranes and related products suitable for various applications, including flat and metalroofs, balconies, and gutters.
These systems may be appropriate for projects involving complex detailing or penetrations and can be applied to existing roof substrates where refurbishment is required.
Key characteristics of Sika’s liquid-applied membranes include:
- Cold-applied application methods that eliminate the need for hot works
- Compatibility with a variety of substrates (refer to product datasheets for details)
- Crack-bridging capabilities and uniform coverage when applied correctly
- Curing times and adhesion properties that vary by product (see technical documentation
- Use in roofing and other waterproofing applications, subject to specification
For project-specific guidance, including performance data and installation requirements, please consult the relevant product datasheet or contact the Sika Technical Services team.
Sika Liquid Applied Roof Systems Product Set - Assessed by the CCPI
Liquid Applied Roof Systems by Sika have been assessed under the Code for Construction Product Information (CCPI). This verification confirms that the product information for these systems meets the CCPI’s fivecore principles: clarity, accuracy, accessibility, currency, and unambiguity.
Sika continues to align its product information processes with the CCPI framework to support transparent and reliable communication with specifiers, contractors, and end users.
Liquid-applied waterproofing systems can be particularly appropriate for roof areas with complex detailing or multiple penetrations, depending on the project requirements and substrate condition.
Cold-Applied Liquid Products
Our Liquid Applied Membranes
Decothane Ultra
Decothane Ultra is a liquid-applied membrane developed using Sika’s i-Cure technology. This formulation is designed to reduce odour during application and may be appropriate for use in environments where air quality and occupant sensitivity are key considerations, such as healthcare, education, and food production facilities. For further details on performance characteristics and suitability, please refer to the product datasheet and application guidelines.
Sikalastic®
Sikalastic®-625N is a liquid-applied membrane that uses atmospheric moisture to initiate the curing process. This formulation enables curing under a range of environmental conditions. Unlike traditional polyurethane systems, it does not release CO₂ during application, which can help reduce the risk of surface defects such as gassing. Under typical UK site conditions, the system may be applied without significant delay, subject to temperature and humidity levels. For full application guidance and environmental limitations, please refer to the product datasheet.
Features of a Cold-Applied Liquid System
Cold-applied liquid waterproofing systems provide a continuous monolithic membrane, reducing the number of joints compared tosheet-based systems. This may be beneficial in areas with complex detailing.
These systems can be specified where visual consistency is important and can be appropriate for roof areas requiring detailed application.
Certain systems in this range have been assessed by the BBA with a stated service life of up to 25 years under defined conditions. For full details, including certificate numbers and scope, please refer to the relevant BBA certification and product datasheets.
