BACKGROUND

The new Costco warehouse in Farnborough is just one of 45 being built across the country by the leading wholesale giant as part of its UK expansion plans.  A Sika Sarnafil waterproofing system has proved to be the perfect fit for the new 12,000sq m Costco warehouse.

SIKA SOLUTION

Registered Sika Sarnafil roofing contractor Richmond Single Ply, based in Bately, was specified for the job, recommended by the project’s cladding contractor, BC Roofing, who had worked with the contractor on an earlier Costco project in Leicester.

The size of the project and the quick installation time required resulted in the specification of the Sika Sarnafil S327-18EL membrane in Light Grey. Ideal for the job, the system is formulated for direct exposure to weather and is produced with integral polyester scrim reinforcement for high strength. Other installation details included perimeter detailing, roof light penetrations and various roof penetrations.

Built on their previous experience, Richmond Single Ply and BC Roofing’s working relationship resulted in a highly successful project without major setbacks, completed in approximately six weeks – four weeks under the set timeframe.

Feedback on the installation from the client all the way down to Sika Sarnafil, was enormously positive, and has led to the contractor being specified for future Costco projects, alongside BC Roofing in the future. Designed to have a VERY GOOD BREEAM assessment.
