Sika® Joint Tape SA

Self-adhering polymeric rubberised tape with woven polyester facer

Self-adhering polymeric rubberised tape with plastic release liner on underside and woven polyester facer on top side. Enhances the strength and durability of Sikalastic® roofing and waterproofing membranes at joints and fixing-points.

Usage

  • Reinforcement of bolt-heads, joints and seams in metal roofing
  • Reinforcement of joints between cover boards on insulation

Application steps

SUBSTRATE PREPARATION

Substrate surfaces, including flashing substrates, shall be clean and dry, free of dirt, dust, loose rust, debris, and oils. Solvent wiping metal flanges or contaminated surfaces with denatured alcohol or acetone is recommended.

  

Priming is typically not required. Metal roof sheets, with visible corrosion will require surface preparation to St 2 - St 3, and the application of Sika Metal Primer, prior to installation of Sika Joint Tape SA.

Cold weather applications (below 5°C), may also require the use of Sika Metal Primer.

APPLICATION

Waterproofing of tape used for metal roof sheets: A light amount of specified coating should be applied immediately after the tape is installed, to the surface of the tape and its edges, as a moisture protection barrier. This is particularly important when there is any imminent risk of moisture originating from either condensation or rainfall.  This can be achieved by brush or by roller. The application of material - to act as a moisture barrier - is not included within overall specified coating requirements, and is an additional requirement.

Sika Joint Tape SA is UV resistant but is not intended for direct exposure.
