Sika® Separol® W

Biological degradable water based mould release agent

Sika® Separol® W is a ready to use, solvent and mineral oil free concrete release agent. It is an emulsion, based on biological degradable synthetic oil.

Sika® Separol® W has the following characteristics:
  • Excellent ‘sticking’ ability on vertical mould surfaces
  • Self levelling after spray application
  • Non combustible vapour
  • Reduced ‘dusty’ residues on the formwork
  • Safe for the operatives to handle

This provides the following advantages:
  • Easy and precise separation of the formwork from the hardened concrete
  • High quality surface finish
  • No reduction of the concrete quality at the surface
  • Protection of formwork from steel corrosion and early ageing

Usage

Sika® Separol® W can be applied on sites and in precast plants.

Sika® Separol® W is mainly used for the following applications:
  • Smooth non-absorbent formwork
  • Absorbent formwork
  • Heated formwork (up to +70°C)
  • Textured formwork

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

COMPATABILITY

Contact our Technical Service Department for information and advice about any specific combinations.
 

DISPENSING
 

  • The moulds should be dry and clean.
  • Any residues of rust and concrete must be removed before application.
  • Sika® Separol® W is applied in thin layers with a fine, white dotted appearance, covering the complete surface (an additional application may be necessary in case of highly absorbent formwork).
  • We recommend the use of a special spray gun with an operating pressure of 3-6 bar and a flat spraying nozzle.
  • Over application of Sika® Separol® W should be avoided. Any excess should be wiped off using a cloth or sponge.
  • After application, an evaporation period of 20 minutes (at +20°C) should be observed prior to casting.
     

APPLICATION METHOD / TOOLS
 

  • The standard rules of good concreting practice, concerning production and placing, are to be followed.
  • Production trials shall be carried out before concreting on site, especially when using a new mix design or producing new concrete components.
  • Fresh concrete must be cured properly and curing applied as early as possible.
     

CLEANING OF TOOLS
 

Clean all tools and application equipment with water immediately after use. Hardened / cured material can only be removed mechanically.
 

NOTES ON APPLICATION
 

  • Before application, Sika® Separol® W should be thoroughly stirred. Sika® Separol® W is ready to use. Do not dilute or mix with other materials!
  • Before concreting preliminary tests are recommended to optimise the procedure for each project.
  • Support from our Technical Service Department is recommended.
  • Frost: If frozen and / or if precipitation has occurred, Sika® Separol® W may be used after thawing slowly at room temperature followed by intensive remixing.
