Build Stronger, Smarter Floors with Fibre Enhanced Composite Decking

Composite metal decking systems combine profiled steel deck and a concrete topping to create a highly efficient, load-sharing structural floor. When fibre reinforcement is added to the concrete, it not only improves crack control and durability, but also enhances fire resistance — delivering smarter performance with fewer materials.

Why Use Fibre Reinforcement?

Adding steel and synthetic fibres into the concrete topping provides engineering and performance benefits:

Crack Control: Reduces early-age shrinkage cracking

Fire Resistance: Supports performance during fire exposure

Load Sharing: Optimises the composite action between steel deck and concrete

3-Dimensional Reinforcement: fibres are spread throughout the concrete and remove the need for steel mesh placement, fixing and cutting.

Approved Decking Systems

We currently support two major composite decking systems with approved fibre dosage specifications:

ComFlor® (Tata Steel)

MetFloor® (Composite Metal Flooring / CMF)

Fibre Dosage Guidelines

Fibre dosage is based on fire rating requirements and loading calculations. The combined use of Novocon FE10-50 steel fibres and SikaFiberMesh 150-ML ensures both structural and fire performance.

Fire RatingFibre Dosage (per m³)
60 minutes25 kg Novocon FE1050 + 1 bag SikaFiberMesh 150-ML
90 minutes30 kg Novocon FE1050 + 1 bag SikaFiberMesh 150-ML

Design and Specification Support

Use our fibre concrete design software to calculate the optimal fibre dosage based on your project's deck system, fire rating, and loadings. Combined with our CPD offering, you’ll be fully equipped to specify fibre reinforced composite decks with confidence.
