Sika® Intraplast® A

Plasticising / Shrinkage Compensating Admixture for Grout, Concrete and Mortar

Sika® Intraplast® A is a beige powder, which gives an expanding, easily worked and homogeneous mortar.  Sika® Intraplast® A stabilizes the mortar and causes expansion before initial set. Sika® Intraplast® A produces a controlled delay of setting time and provides a more efficient dispersion of cement grains, which increases the fluidity and penetration into fine cracks and cavities.

Usage

Sika® Intraplast® A can be used for all types of concrete qualities, particularly for:

Application steps

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

Grouting

  • Add the cement / dry mortar to the mixing water and mix thoroughly to a homogeneous mass.
  • Add Sika® Intraplast® A and mix thoroughly for another 1-3 minutes.

 

For Mortar / Concrete mixtures

  • The swelling of the mortar starts about 15 minutes after mixing, and stops after ~1.5 hours; add Sika® Intraplast® A directly to the mixer in the truck to maximise the admixture expansion time.
  • After addition to the mixer truck, the mixing time should be between 5-10 minutes depending on the type and wear on the current mixer truck.
  • At lower temperatures, the period of expansion is extended.
     

General instructions

  • The mortar temperature should not exceed 20 ºC.
  • In order to make maximum use of the expansion, the mixture should be used within 30 minutes.
  • Typical water-binder ratio from 0.40 to 0.65.
  • Trial mixes are recommended prior to supply
