Set accelerating admixture for concrete and mortar.

SikaRapid®-3 is a chloride-free, set-accelerating admixture for concrete and mortar.  SikaRapid®-3 promotes early strength development without negatively influencing final strengths.

SikaRapid®-3 accelerates the set of the concrete and provides benefits such as:
  • Faster formwork striking times
  • Reduced or eliminated heat or steam curing
  • Continuous concreting at low temperatures
  • No negative effects on the final strengths
  • Chloride-free so suitable for use in steel-reinforced and prestressed concrete

Usage

SikaRapid®-3 has been specifically formulated for applications where fast early set and strength development plays a major role, or is of crucial importance within 6 to 24 hours.
SikaRapid®-3 is frequently used in the following applications:
  • Precast concrete
  • Prestressed concrete
  • Placing concrete during cold ambient temperatures
  • Slipform construction

Technical Information

Concreting guidance

The standard rules of good concreting practice, concerning production and placing, are to be followed. Fresh concrete must be cured properly and curing applied as early as possible. Pre-trials or laboratory trials shall be carried out before concreting on site, especially when using a new mix design or producing with new concrete components.

Dispensing

SikaRapid®-3 is added to the gauging water or added with it into the concrete mixer.
A wet mixing time, depending on the mixing conditions and mixer performance, of at least 60 seconds is recommended.
When added on site the truck mixer shall rotate its drum at maximum revolutions for at least 1 minute per m³ concrete and a minimum of 5 minutes to achieve a uniform mix.

Compatibility

SikaRapid®-3 may be combined with many other Sika products.
Important: Always conduct trials before combining products in specific mixes and contact our Technical Service Department for information and advice.
