What is BIM?

Building Information Modelling is essentially the evolution of the Construction Industry. Industry has been evolving for years, with new innovation, machines and automated production. Now the Construction industry needs to catch up.

BIM is not owned by anyone. It is not CAD or a single piece of software. BIM is a process, a new way of working which requires various tools, applications and a combination of software packages.

The ultimate goals are to increase the quality and performance buildings, improve communication / collaboration between all parties throughout the building lifecycle, reduce costs, reduce the potential risks/liabilities for all involved with the use of pre-site simulations and clash detection.

BIM and Sika's added value

At Sika, we are dedicated to supporting architects and specifiers with Building Information Modelling (BIM) to streamline the planning process and enhance data accuracy. As market innovators, we are proud to offer our initial set of BIM objects for key Sika flooring product ranges.

These objects can be integrated into the Building Information Model to help streamline the workflow by providing benefits:

Accelerated planning process

Improved data quality and coordination

Eases complex project management

Architect can adapt changes quickly and create more accurate drawings

Contractor can facilitate material takeoff with more accurate quantity counts and integral data

Owner can have a complete, integrated data model to ease future building maintenance
