BREEAM (BRE Environmental Assessment Method)

BREEAM is an environmental assessment method and rating system for buildings, launched in 1990 by the UK organization BRE (Building Research Establishment). It is also used in other countries such as Netherlands and Spain. BREEAM assesses the overall performance of buildings using factors such as energy and water use, the internal environment (health and well-being), pollution, transport, materials etc., and awarding credits in each area according to defined performance criteria. The environmental impact is determined using LCA’s.

Sika's ComfortFloor systems, Sikafloor® PS23 and PS24, have become the first resin flooring systems to achieve a manufacturer-specific BRE Green Guide Ratings – attaining an A+ the highest rating available. Although the Green Guide to Specification forms the basis of construction material ratings for BREEAM assessments there are numerous other areas that the Sika ComfortFloor systems can contribute towards an assessment.
