Sikafloor®-02 Primer is compatible with the following absorbent and non-absorbent substrates:

• Concrete

• Cementitious screeds

• Substrates with existing water-resistant adhesive residue

• Ceramic tiles

• Natural stones

• Terrazzo (epoxy or cementitious)

• Mineral-based magnesia screeds

• Metal

• Epoxy and water-based polyurethane surfaces

• Fully bonded resilient floorings (except polyolefin coverings)

• Mastic asphalt screeds IC 10 and IC 15 according to EN 13 813

Levelling compounds and tile adhesives on Sikafloor®-02 Primer:

Times are approximate and will be affected by changing ambient conditions, particularly temperature and relative humidity.

Reference must be made to the individual Product Data Sheets of the levelling compounds and tile adhesives.

IMPORTANT

Overlaying soft coverings: If used on soft existing coverings, i.e. vinyl, linoleum or rubber substrates, always use a gypsum-based levelling compound.

GENERAL

The existing substrate must be sound, structurally stable, clean, dry, and free of all contaminants, such as dirt, oil, grease, wax, and rust, which could affect adhesion.

All dust and loose, friable material must be completely removed from all substrate types before the application of the Product, preferably using vacuum extraction equipment.

Suitable preparation techniques include abrasive blast cleaning, grinding, abrading, and electric floor scrubbers used with degreasing/cleaning chemicals.

CONCRETE AND CEMENTITIOUS SCREEDS

1. Degrease and clean.

WATER SOLUBLE ADHESIVE RESIDUE

1. Completely remove.

WATER RESISTANT ADHESIVE RESIDUE

1. Mechanically remove as thoroughly as possible, leaving only well-bonded residue.

RESILIENT FLOOR COVERINGS

Preconditions

Resilient floor coverings must be securely bonded to the substrate.

1. Remove poorly bonded coverings.
2. De-grease and clean.

CERAMIC TILES, NATURAL STONES, TERRAZZO, EPOXY AND WATER-BASED POLYURETHANE COATINGS

Preconditions

Ceramic tiles, natural stones, terrazzo, epoxy and water-based polyurethane coatings must be securely bonded to the substrate.

1. Replace any loose tiles or stones.
2. Abrade surfaces to remove glaze or gloss finish.

VINYL COVERINGS CONTAINING ASBESTOS

Preconditions

Resilient floor coverings must be securely bonded to the substrate.

1. Remove poorly bonded coverings.
2. De-grease and clean.

METALS

1. Mechanically remove rust.
2. De-grease and clean.

MINERAL BASED MAGNESIA SCREEDS

1. De-grease and clean.

Note: Magnesia screeds other than mineral based, e.g. wood flour magnesia, must be primed with an epoxy based primer and fully broadcast with kiln dried quartz sand before application of levelling compound and tile adhesive.

Stir the Product for 30 seconds just before use.

IMPORTANT

Strictly follow installation procedures

Strictly follow installation procedures as defined in Method Statements, application manuals and working instructions which must always be adjusted to the actual site conditions.

1. Apply the primer onto the prepared substrate with a shortpile roller or pad applicator. Note: Ensure a continuous, pore free coat covers the substrate. Avoid the formation of puddles.
2. Confirm the waiting time for overcoating has been achieved before applying subsequent products.

Clean all tools and application equipment with water immediately after use. Hardened material can only be removed mechanically.
