BACKGROUND
Founded in 1983, Tomlinson Dairies began as a door-to-door milk delivery service. Thanks to its commitment to quality and service, the company experienced growing demand, prompting the construction of a dedicated dairy facility adjacent to its farm. Currently generating over 25 million litres of fresh milk annually and servicing more than 300 outlets spanning Wales, the Midlands, and the Northwest of England, the dairy needed an increase to its production capacity. This led to the company investing in a brand-new dairy.
THE CHALLENGE
In dairy operations, conditions can be wet and slippery, while products are highly susceptible to contamination. Thus, the new dairy needed a robust flooring system that ensured safety, had non-tainting properties, and had exceptional resistance to heat, chemicals, and impacts.
The need to bring the new facility into production as soon as possible meant that the project had a very tight construction schedule.
OUR SOLUTION
A total area exceeding 5000m2 was coated with Sika® Ucrete® UD 200, complemented by the application of Sika® Ucrete® RG on the skirting. Following the successful installation in the primary production areas,
a request was received to return to provide a similar flooring solution in the newly constructed yogurt production facility.
BENEFITS
The short timescale for application was met, along with the client’s requirement for an anti-slip floor finish with the same cleanability as stainless steel.
Tried and tested flooring systems with a proven track record within the dairy industry.
Sika® Ucrete® UD 200 flooring's combination of durability, speed of cure and ease of cleaning with temperature resistance up to 150°C are a unique offering meeting the demands of this project.
