Sika is in line for a string of accolades following the announcement that all four of its projects entered into the FeRFA Resin Flooring Association Best Practice Awards have been shortlisted.

The annual awards, which take place at the Belfry Hotel in Sutton Coldfield, recognise and reward outstanding workmanship, diversity and innovation displayed by its members. The contest attracts entries nationwide, and with the shortlist featuring a range of high-quality resin flooring projects, the overall winners will have certainly earned the award.

Sika has been shortlisted for two projects in the Large Industrial Project of the Year category: Costa Coffee, with McDaid Screeding; and Rolls Royce, with Zircon Flooring. For the building of a £36 million Costa Coffee plant in Essex, destined to become the company’s highest-producing UK roasting facility, Sika supplied Sikafloor®- PurCem HS21, a high-gloss, water-based, polyurethane. Specified for its smooth, hi-gloss finish, 10-year lifecycle and thermal capabilities, it was the first time Sikafloor®- PurCem HS21 had been used on a major UK project.

This comprised a Sikafloor® 161 primer, Sikafloor® 220W conductive coat, Sikafloor® 262 AS wearing course, and Sikafloor® -263 SL, a two-part, multipurpose binder based on epoxy resin.

In the Small Commercial Project of the Year, Sika with IRL Group, was shortlisted for its use at a private address in Nottingham. The installation of Sika ComfortFloor® in the dwelling’s kitchen area demonstrates this excellent technical and aesthetic solution – the first resin flooring system to achieve a BRE Green Guide Rating, attaining an A+ the highest rating – is ideal for flooring projects large and small.

The FeRFA Resin Flooring Association Best Practice Awards, presented this year by TV and radio host, Colin Murray, take place on Friday, 11 November.

"To have all four projects entered shortlisted for these prestigious awards is an outstanding achievement for all concerned. We had great success last year, with three projects picking-up awards. To triumph in a similar fashion next month would be equally as thrilling." Mark Bushell, Sika Flooring Business Unit Manager
