Parex Cembond

Cementitious adhesive and primer

Parex Cembond is a blend of Portland cements and quality chemical modifiers which produce a waterproof adhesive primer for masonry and concrete. The product is mixed with water on site and applied by brush. The special mix design provides excellent adhesion to construction surfaces and minimises the risk of sulphate attack on renders from contaminated substrates.

Usage

  • Priming layers for Portland cement renders, screeds and plasters.
  • Fixing bead stops, coving, etc. for Portland cement based plasterwork and rendering.

Storage conditions

The Product should be kept in dry conditions at a temperature of 5°C to 35°C. Storage at higher temperatures and high humidity may reduce the shelf life.

A 5 kg unit will cover approximately 12 to 18m², dependant on surface texture.
Application steps

SUBSTRATE PREPARATION

All contact surfaces must be clean and sound. Remove all loose material, laitance, dust, any previous coatings, oil and mould.

MIXING

Parex Cembond is supplied in 5 kg tubs. The water requirement to produce the mortar is 2.5 litres per 5 kg of dry material. Pour the required quantity of water into a suitable, clean mixing vessel. Slowly add the powder to the water whilst continuously mixing. Mechanical mixing is recommended using a slow speed high torque drill with a grout stirrer. Mixing should be continued for three minutes after all the powder has been added to obtain a 'creamy' consistency.

 

APPLICATION

Apply Parex Cembond to the area using a large paint brush, using long, sweeping strokes. Immediately overlay with the first layer of plaster or render.

CLEANING OF EQUIPMENT

Clean all tools and application equipment with water immediately after use. Hardened / cured material can only be mechanically removed.
