Even the simplest of installations require expert planning and preparation to ensure the right product is specified and the optimum methodology is prescribed.

Project Requirements

When tasked with a tight timescale and a seamless installation, contractor Malin Floors turned to Sikament® 700 liquid admixture, which meets the requirements of BS EN 934-2, to ensure the desired outcome was achieved for end client; Fife District Council.

The Council’s two brand-new warehouse buildings in the heart of the local authority area required a high-performance finish that boasted strength, integrity and durability to accommodate the heavy footfall associated with its workforce.

On paper, this was a simple ‘in and out’ job; an above ground, open plan, new build – all without the challenges associated with complex listed or heritage buildings.

This did not stop the Malin and Sika teams working closely, however, to ensure there was no room for complacencies, with representatives from both companies present during the pour to monitor progress.

To maximise efficiencies, 150m³ was pump-poured before being evenly distributed across the new-build floorplate.

Sika Solutions

No matter how challenging or straight forward a job might be, Sika understands that every project must be undertaken with the same dedication to planning and problem solving.

Ultimately, this can be the difference between a high-performance subfloor and a subpar finish.

In schemes where a floor will be put under considerable footfall traffic and strain from heavy loads, such as warehouses, a surface must adhere to strict durability demands, particularly in commercial projects where missed deadlines and failings can be costly and inconvenient.

Sikament® 700 is particularly well suited to the Fife District Council project thanks to its laser screed properties, providing even distribution and prompt curing time – no matter how large the area.

The installation took just three hours and was ready to receive a floorcovering / to be worked on from 24-36 hours after installation, with instant results.

"Sika provided some very impressive technical support throughout, from specification right the way through to post-installation. Their knowledge was second-to-none and our operatives spoke very positively about their time on site. The quality of the product and service received was unrivalled and we would welcome the opportunity to use their products on future projects." Andy McGrath, General Manager at Malin Floors
