Sika Flooring are thrilled to announce that they have been shortlisted for five projects in the FeRFA, Resin Flooring Association Annual Best Practice Awards.

Sika Flooring has been shortlisted for two projects in the Small Commercial Project of the Year category; they include Rainbow House with Crown Flooring and Birmingham Children’s Hospital with Zenith Pola Flooring Ltd.

Rainbow House is a sustainable flooring project where Sika has donated both a ComfortFloor® Pro system and Hygienic Wall Coatings. This provided a high-quality and attractive solution to support the treatment of children with disabilities at the new charity-funded Rainbow House facility in Lancashire. Flooring in this new facility had to meet the challenge of providing a comfortable surface for floor therapy exercises, yet offer some slip resistance with an attractive seamless floor.

Birmingham Children’s Hospital is another ComfortFloor® project that was selected to meet the challenge of durability, noise suppression, comfort underfoot as well as an aesthetically pleasing design. The team also had to meet the challenge of bringing the ward back into service in just 3 weeks, so it could be back up and running as a high dependency unit for the children.

Both Rainbow House and Birmingham Children’s Hospital projects use the only resin flooring solution in the market to be classified in the BRE Green Guide with an A+ rating, setting a benchmark for sustainability in the industry.

Following on from this, Sika has had great success in the Large Industrial Project of the Year Category with three out of the four projects announced being Sika projects. They include Airedale International with Central Flooring; Dove, Nestle with IRL GROUP and GE Energy with Zircon Flooring.

Airedale International is a 19,500 m2 flooring project for the new build manufacturing facility of a world leading air conditioning company. It had to be completed to a tight schedule and this decorative flake project is potentially the largest in Europe.

Dove, Nestle was a challenging project which included over 26,000 m2 of resin flooring (plus 35,000m2 of resin wall finishes and 26,000m2 of ceiling finishes) to be installed at the Nestle coffee production facility.

Finally, GE Energy required a refurbishment of a 3000m2 uneven concrete floor at their production facility. The solution needed to be a super smooth floor that was installed to achieve the exacting requirements to allow the movement of components using air film technology.
