Parex Bondcoat UF

2-COMPONENT EPOXY BONDING PRIMER FOR A WIDE RANGE OF MATERIALS AND SUBSTRATES

Parex Bondcoat UF is a two-part epoxy resin system consisting of a base component containing solvent-free epoxide resin, plus a low viscosity liquid hardener. It is applied using a stiff bristle brush to give a thin continuous bond layer to clean prepared surfaces.
Parex Bondcoat UF is used as a bonding primer where the highest bond values are required. The bonder is used for applications of epoxy resin based mortars, screeds and toppings to resin and cementitious substrates, in addition to cementitious mortars and concretes applied to existing cementitious surfaces. The bond values achieved are greater than the tensile strength of high quality concrete. Bond lines are resistant to a wide range of chemicals to complement the applied topping.

Storage conditions

Mixing ratio

Component A : Component B = 1.66 : 1 by weight or volume

Layer thickness

~1 mm max. in one application. Multiple layers can be used to achieve required final thickness. Wait for each previous layer to harden before applying the next layer.

Material temperature

Parex Bondcoat UF must be applied at temperatures between +5 °C and +30 °C.

Ambient air temperature

+5 °C min. / +35 °C max.

Dew point

Beware of condensation.
Substrate temperature during application must be at least 3 °C above dew point.

Pot Life

~1 hour at 20°C.

The pot life begins when the resin and hardener are combined. It is shorter at higher temperatures and longer at lower temperatures. The greater the quantity mixed, the shorter the pot life. 

Curing rate

Initial Cure:

Depending on the topping, the finished application may be brought into light use in 24 hours.

Full Cure:

Full cure will be obtained in 7 days.
Consumption

Consumption

Each 0.8kg pack will cover approximately 2-5 m² depending on substrate.
Each 4kg pack will cover approximately 10-25 m² depending on substrate.
Application steps

SUBSTRATE QUALITY

Ensure that bonding surfaces are free from dust and oily contamination. Suitable preparation should be undertaken to produce a good mechanical key. Steel should be free of rust and flaking mill scale. All substrate surfaces should be essentially dry.

MIXING

Pour all of the contents of the hardener bottle into the base resin container which has sufficient volume to act as the mixing vessel. Thoroughly mix the two components until a homogenous clear product is achieved using a slow speed drill and paddle. Avoid air entrapment at all times while mixing.

APPLICATION

Apply the mixed Parex Bondcoat UF to the prepared surface using a stiff bristle brush. Apply a thin continuous film avoiding the formation of puddling. Apply the topping as soon as the priming coat is completed. If the Parex Bondcoat UF is absorbed by the substrate, re-prime the surface before applying the topping.

CURING TREATMENT

No special curing practice is required, but product should be protected from rain during application and hardening.

CLEANING OF EQUIPMENT

Clean all tools and application equipment with Sika® Thinner C Cleaner immediately after use. Hardened / cured material can only be removed mechanically.
