At Sika, we are proud to celebrate National Apprenticeship Week by highlighting the incredible journeys of our apprentices. Meet Joseph Pierce, one of our dedicated apprentices, who is currently in the midst of his apprenticeship with our Roofing Division.
Joseph’s day-to-day role is dynamic and hands-on, involving site surveys with our current Area Technical Managers. He takes core samples and ensures the surveys are detailed and well-documented, using photos to create clear reports. He also turns these surveys into specifications for clients and is also focussed on sourcing project leads for the sales team and organising CPD sessions for specifiers.
When asked why he chose an apprenticeship, Joseph explained that the idea of earning while learning appealed to him, but it’s the real-world experience and relationship-building opportunities that have been the most rewarding. He said, “The experience you get from an apprenticeship is so valuable and it allows me to meet new people and create relationships.”
Joseph’s apprenticeship has been a fulfilling journey so far, and he credits his success to excellent time management and the strong support of his team. “It’s amazing! There is a lot of time management involved, but I’ve had a brilliant team helping me every step of the way,” he said.
Looking ahead, Joseph’s goal is to become an Area Technical Executive, and his apprenticeship is helping him get closer to that aspiration. “This is a great goal to set for myself, and the apprenticeship is really helping me to get there.”
