PROJECT DESCRIPTION

This service reservoir is located on the chalk hills above Eastbourneat well-known beauty spot Beachy Head. The undergroundreservoir required joint replacement and internal waterproofing toprevent moisture loss or ingress.

PROJECT REQUIREMENT

The contract required the removal of all existing contaminationback to sound concrete. A moisture tolerant adhesive and jointbandage were needed that could provide a fast return to servicetime while sealing the leaking joints. A flexible cementitiousmembrane to coat the concrete and accommodate any futuremovement within the structure completed the specification. Allmaterials had to be Regulation 31 approved for use in contact withpotable water.

PROJECT SOLUTIONS

The concrete surface was treated with high pressure water toremove all contaminants. Sikadur-Combiflex®-930 bandage wasapplied onto Sikadur- Combiflex®-933 moisture tolerant adhesiveto seal the vertical and horizontal joints. SikaTop®-588 Seal wasapplied to the concrete by brush in two coats of 1mm per coat. SikaTop®-588 Seal White was applied followed by a second coat of SikaTop®-588 Seal Grey..
