A previous client of Renderseal Ltd – who had works undertaken on his home in Hampstead in 2013 – requested help recently with further works at the same property.

Due to a defective external drain problem, water ingress had occurred in the client’s rear bedroom in addition to damp staining and paint blistering in the side entrance hall.

Familiar with Renderseal Ltd’s expertise, the homeowner returned to the waterproofing specialist for help. Providing its services throughout London and the Home Counties, Renderseal Ltd’s plan was to install a Sika waterproofing system that would combat the issues created by the home’s defective drain.

Project Requirements

As the property was occupied, the works performed by Renderseal Ltd needed to maintain a clean and tidy environment.

This was achieved by using Dust Compacting Environmental control units and containing the works to a specific area. The client also reiterated that both he and his family felt comfortable living alongside the works for a short period of time.

Sika Solutions

Renderseal Ltd, who are a trained and approved installer of Sika waterproofing materials, opted to use the Sika®-1 Pre-Bagged Waterproofing System. The system, which consists of a render system for use on walls and overhead surfaces, as well as a screed system for use on the floor, was specified for the project due to its proven track record and BBA certificate.

The high performance joint and crack sealing tape, Sikadur Combiflex® SG, was also used for its resistance to various levels of water pressure and its high-quality seal of joints, prior to the installation of the Sika®-1 Pre-Bagged Waterproofing System.

Sika®-1 Render Mortar was applied to the walls, as well as a Sikadur Combiflex® SG which was used around the steels in the rear bedroom, in addition to the junction between the wall and floor.

"The project in Hampstead is a perfect demonstration of the Sika®-1 Pre-Bagged Waterproofing System, which provides a high-quality performance in a very wet environment, especially when carried out with our experience. Our client, having worked with us previously, trusted in our capabilities and wanted to replicate the success of the last project in this instance. Whilst he was initially worried about the mess that the works may create, we left the house after the job in a clean and tidy position – ready for decorating after the required cure period. On completion of the works, the homeowner called to thank us for the work, as well as sending over an email confirming how pleased he had been with the waterproofing system we had implemented."
