Project Requirements

Although the basement and swimming pool at Beltane Drive had been cast in waterproof concrete, the client required a second waterproofing system to be installed. Because of the property’s construction stage, external waterproofing was not an option.

In addition, the client did not want the responsibility or cost of ongoing pump maintenance and the subsequent upkeep required with checking a cavity drain membrane system in the basement area.

Sika Solutions

The natural solution was to waterproof the basement and swimming pool using the Sika®-1 Pre-Bagged Waterproof System, meaning there would be no requirement for drainage products, ancillary equipment or maintenance.

To minimise dust nuisance and vibration exposure to operatives working on the residential project, a wet grit blast with a high-pressure jet wash was chosen for surface preparation.

Sika®-1 Pre-Bagged Waterproof System were used to control water ingress and successfully waterproof the basement and swimming pool, completing the project in a timely manner without complications.

The installation system also incorporated the high-performance joint sealing system, Sikadur®- Combiflex® SG, at all construction joints to add extra protection to these higher risk areas.

The Sika®-1 Pre-Bagged Waterproofing System was specified thanks to its proven track record and BBA-certification. The product consists of watertight renders and screeds produced by mixing diluted Sika®-1 Waterproofing Liquid and Sika®-1 Pre-Batched Mortars.

Renderseal Ltd offered the client peace of mind and completed the job without complication.

"The client was delighted with the results of the project and the contractor found the whole process to be a smooth one." Susan Blackabee, Director at Renderseal Ltd
