Lift Pit Ruislip

Renderseal were requested to provide proposals to waterproof a newly constructed lift pit, which was seeping water to such a degree that ponding was occurring on the lift pit floor.

The application of the Sika 1 Pre-Bagged Waterproofing System in conjunction with the Sikadur®- Combiflex® SG System at the joints was proposed to waterproof the lift pit.

Due to the active water infiltration and the condition of the substrate, it was necessary to carry out remedial repairs and control water ingress using mortars incorporating Sika 4a Waterstop. Sika 4a Waterstop is a quick setting leak stopping liquid which is mixed with water and ordinary Portland cement to produce a paste for leak stopping against high water pressure infiltration. When applied the Sika 4a Waterstop provides a temporary seal which was necessary in this case due to the significant water seepage. The Sika 1 Pre-Bagged Waterproofing System, a multi-layer, mortar-based waterproofing render system with integral pore-blocking admixtures, was then successfully applied.

The works were further complicated by the lift runners, which had already been installed and could not be removed, so specialist detailing was required around the base of the runners to allow for potential vibration and differential movement.

On completion of Renderseal’s works the lift pit was left clean and dry and the client was delighted with the results.
