Sikafloor®-60 Buster

Oil decontamination penetrating fluid for cementitious substrates

Sikafloor®-60 Buster is an oil decontamination fluid for pre-conditioning cementitious substrates before applying epoxy-based primers. It penetrates the contaminated floor and breaks down the oil into micro-particles. These are then transferred to the surface by capillary action to leave oil-free capillaries, allowing the epoxy-based primer to penetrate the substrate.

Usage

  • As a pre-preparation cleaning agent for cementitious substrates that have been contaminated with oil.
  • Use before the flooring system substrate preparation treatment and application of Sika epoxy-based primers such as Sikafloor®-150/151/1590.

Storage Conditions

The product must be stored in original, unopened and undamaged packaging in dry conditions at temperatures between +5 °C and +30 °C. Always refer to packaging.

Application steps

EQUIPMENT

Select the most appropriate equipment required for the project:

Substrate Preparation Equipment

  • Hand brush and scrubber with Perlon bristles or equivalent
  • Scrubbing machine with Perlon bristles or equivalent

Application Equipment

  • Backpack or hand-held sprayer

Liquid Removal Equipment

  • An industrial wet vacuum cleaner with a 50-100 litre reservoir

APPLICATION

Important: For heavily contaminated substrates, mechanically prepare before applying the product.

Note: For absorbent substrates, use a diluted mixture of Sikafloor®-60 Buster : Water  = 1 : 1

  1. If there is a film of oil on the substrate, remove as much as possible using an industrial wet vacuum cleaner.
  2. Spray all oil contaminated surfaces with undiluted Sikafloor®-60 Buster (~200 ml/m2) making sure the surface becomes wet with the product.
  3. Lightly brush / scrub the product with a hand brush or scrubbing machine until it forms a foam.
  4. Wait for 10–30 minutes.
  5. Brush / scrub the treated area(s) with clean water.
  6. Remove the oil foam mixture using an industrial wet vacuum cleaner.
  7. Repeat stages 2 to 6 as many times as required until the substrate has been decontaminated to a satisfactory condition.
  8. Carry out the required surface preparation for the flooring system before applying the primer and subsequent flooring layer(s).
