Why Choose Bitumen as a Roof System?
Sika's bituminous roof solutions come in two different forms: reinforced membranes and also hot melt structural waterproofing. Our bituminous membranes are formed of a reinforced; polymer modified bituminous compound, providing a high quality roof waterproofing solution. Our hot melt structural waterproofing system is an outstanding system, it is BBA certified to last the design life of the structure to which it is installed. Both bituminous technologies are robust waterproofing solutions, and have their own individual system features and benefits. However, with any roofing specification, it's important to understand where each of these technologies are most suitable and our technical team can support with bespoke design advice to suit the individual project requirements.

SikaShield® Hot Melt Structural Waterproofing
Build-Up of SikaShield® Hot Melt Structural Waterproofing
Sika's hot melt structural waterproofing comprises of a liquid-applied membrane, used for inverted flat roofing areas, podiums, walkways or balconies due to its non-tracking monolithic state.
The hot melt waterproofing system is ideal for new build construction sites, as the system can be trafficked soon after installation, which is a great advantage for busy sites where other working trades require access to the roof. The durability and longevity of the system provides the perfect solution for high traffic flat roofing areas.
As a system, it can be installed all year round, and is backed with on-site support from Sika's roofing technical teams.
