Roofing Insulation
In both new build and refurbishment projects, thermal insulation is often a requirement under Approved Document L of the Building Regulations. This document outlines where insulation is needed and the target U-values to be achieved. As regulations are subject to revision, the latest version should always be consulted.
Sika offers a range of insulation types and thicknesses under the Sikatherm® brand, suitable for use in flat roofing applications including mechanically fixed, adhered, and ballasted systems. Sikatherm® insulation has been assessed for compatibility with Sika’s waterproofing systems, including single ply membranes, liquid-applied membranes, reinforcedbituminous membranes, and hot melt structural waterproofing.
Tapered Sikatherm® insulation is available for applications requiring falls, and EPS, XPS, and cellular glass options are offered for inverted roof build-ups.
Sika provides thermal calculations and condensation risk analysis on a project-by-project basis. These assessments are carried out to support compliance with regulatory requirements and to inform specification decisions. For details on performance and limitations, please refer to the technical documentation.
