Canton, MA. – (February 14, 2019) – Winners of the annual Contractor Project of the Year competition were announced by Sika Sarnafil, the worldwide market leader in thermoplastic roofing and waterproofing membranes.

Winners were recognized for outstanding workmanship in five categories: Low Slope – New Construction, Low Slope – Re-Roofing, Steep Slope, Sustainability, & Waterproofing. For projects completed using a Sika thermoplastic membrane for roofing or waterproofing applications.

Whelan, Sika Sarnafil’s Executive Vice President. “Each entry is judged on project complexity, design uniqueness, craftsmanship and creative problem solving. We salute the winners for their dedication to the roofing industry and installation excellence.”

In the Sustainability Category: Poly Vinyl Roofing of Mount Vernon, Iowa, grabbed first place in the Sustainability class for its superb work on the Seamans Center for the Engineering Arts and Sciences, which is located on the campus of the University of Iowa in Iowa City. The company utilized the Sarnafil S 327 membrane and the roof boasts sustainable features such as a green roof, solar panels and even a pair of bioswales that slow down and filter stormwater runoff before it enters the sewer system.

In all, more than 40 projects from around the U.S. were submitted for evaluation in the Sika Sarnafil Project of the Year competition. First place winners were awarded cash prizes, recognition at an awards dinner at the International Roofing Expo and marketing support in the form or advertisements, social media and public relations.
