We are pleased to announce that Sika has now joined The Furniture Industry Research Association.
Established in 1949, FIRA is the UK's largest furniture association and the only organisation that provides support to the whole furniture supply chain, across all sectors.
FIRA provides a wide range of independent expert services including product testing at their UKAS-accredited laboratory. During testing they simulate real-life use and foreseeable misuse for all types of furniture and related products for both the domestic and contract markets.
Product and furniture testing provides reassurance for businesses and end users, not only for meeting mandatory safety requirements, but as an insight into the performance and durability of a product when it is being used. This helps to identify any issues prior to the product going on sale, reducing returns and customer complaints.
In this instance Sika’s Reactive Polyurethane Hot melt solutions have been tested in the production of kitchen doors. Plans are also in place for decorative panel applications, kitchen tops and work spaces.
