In any roofing project, early engagement from Sika is key for us to enable our quality management system is followed, ensuring we minimise any risk from from the consultation stage right through to aftercare. Through out each project Sika's roofing team can support at each stage of the project:
- Initial design considerations and full specification creation
- Best roofing solution from our roofing technlogies: Single ply membranes, Bituminous membranes and Cold liquid applied membranes. Depending on building regulations and project requirements
- Installation method depending on project requirements
- On site inspections by our expert field technicians through installation process
- Guarantees up to 25 years
- Aftercare
DESIGN CONSIDERATIONS
Technical support offered on each project includes providing a detailed build up of the specific Sika roofing system chosen. A proposed specification is received from our Area Technical Managers, then processed & checked by our dedicated technical team, before a specification is written based on system suitability and to ensure it is suitably designed to resist calculated:
- Wind uplift calculations
- Drainage calculations
- Thermal calculations
- Condensation risk analysis
- UV and natural daylight
- Fire performance
- Safe roof access
At Sika we also ensure any sustainability requirements for a project are considered and our company continually comply with the UK governments strategy surrounding sustainability in construction. We are able to provide BREEAM packs on request to support design advice at consultation stage.
Finally our systems are designed to meet with relevant UK building regulations, such as:
- Approved Document L - ‘Conservation of fuel and power’ / Scottish Technical Handbooks – Section 6 (Energy)
- Approved Document B - ‘Fire Safety’ / Scottish Technical Handbooks – Section 2 (Fire)
- European Classification system set out in BS EN 13501-5 - Broof (t4)
